What it is a WhatsApp-first chatbot builder sold on a subscription with per-unit overage, not an unlimited seat license.
Two meters conversations and AI conversations are counted apart, so the AI side is the first line to run dry.
What stacks on top the WhatsApp number and its message allowance, and every optional seat, are separate published charges.
Where the bill gets hard the WhatsApp layer adds three variables on top of plain chat volume.
Most chatbot builders hide the per-message math behind a sales call. Landbot publishes the whole rate sheet on the pricing page: included chats, included AI chats, the exact overage price, the WhatsApp number add-on.

The pitch is “predictable by design, three rules, no exceptions.” That is either a useful commitment or a marketing claim, depending on what you do once you exceed the included volume. We read every line of the pricing tables and the FAQ to see whether the predictability claim survives real usage.
Below: the actual dollars, the hidden WhatsApp variables, and the cases where the bill stops being predictable.
Pricing, all the way down to the overage line
Landbot shows the same numbers twice — once as a card layout, once in a side-by-side comparison — and they match. The values below are USD, billed annually unless noted, captured from the public pricing page (landbot.io/pricing).
| Plan | Monthly (annual) | Monthly billing | Included chats | Included AI chats | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 100/mo | — | 1 |
| Starter | $36 | $45 | 500/mo | 100 | 2 |
| Professional | $88 | $110 | 2,500/mo | 300 | 3 |
| Professional WA | $176 | $176 | 2,500/mo | 500 | 3 + 1 WhatsApp number |
| Business | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom | 5+ |
Three pieces matter for TCO:
- Overage is published. Extra chat $0.05, extra AI chat $0.10. Both rates are the same on every paid plan.
- Extra seat is $25/month across all paid tiers.
- The 14-day trial does not require a credit card. When it ends, the workspace drops to Free — no charge, no data loss.
Annual billing carries a 20% discount versus monthly. Currency is auto-detected: EUR for EU billing, USD elsewhere. The pricing page does not separate AI cost by underlying model — the rate is per AI chat, full stop.
Why “AI chat” is a separate line item
The pricing FAQ draws an explicit distinction that other chatbot vendors leave vague:
- A Landbot chat runs on a visual flow with buttons, decision points, and triggers. The conversation is scripted.
- An AI chat is handled fully or partially by an AI agent that interprets intent and replies in natural language. It draws from a knowledge base the customer controls.
- A WhatsApp conversation follows Meta’s 24-hour window rules. Outside the window, only pre-approved templates can be sent.
These three are billed separately, and the FAQ states it plainly: “AI chats are tracked and billed separately from WhatsApp and Landbot chats” (landbot.io/pricing FAQ). Conflating them is the most common source of bill shock in the category, and Landbot’s choice to publish the rates is the cleanest position we’ve seen for it.
The WhatsApp layer adds three variables
If WhatsApp is in scope, the headline number stops telling the whole story. Professional WA is the cheapest tier that includes a WhatsApp number and a 10,000-message monthly allowance. Above that, three separate cost lines kick in:
- Meta’s per-message rate: service messages at Meta cost plus €0.003, marketing/utility/authentication messages at €0.05 each.
- Additional WhatsApp number: +$100/month.
- Meta’s 24-hour window: outside it, only templates can be sent — and templates can carry extra charges.
So the WhatsApp bill is genuinely three variables stacked: plan allowance, template message volume, and message category (landbot.io/pricing).
We did not run a live WhatsApp campaign to verify the per-message math against a real Meta invoice. The Meta rates are publicly documented; how they interact with high-volume marketing blasts is not something we can confirm from a pricing page alone.
What each plan actually unlocks
The feature table on the pricing page draws a clean line between tiers:
- Free includes the full builder and templates. AI chats are not included, and API chat is not available. You can deploy a non-AI chatbot indefinitely — that is the lowest-cost way to evaluate the platform.
- Starter unlocks AI agents and basic integrations (Mailchimp, Segment). No premium CRMs, no webhooks, no API chat. Human takeover is in.
- Professional adds HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, Google Sheets, and webhook + API access. Branding can be removed.
- Professional WA is Professional plus the WhatsApp module: one number, 10,000 monthly messages, 500 AI chats.
- Business is the only tier with an SLA and a dedicated support contact. It also unlocks Agent Studio, Landbot’s managed build/operate offering, which can be added to any plan as a paid service.
The platform’s framing — “hybrid” — appears in the FAQ: button-based flows for the critical path, AI only where it adds value, grounded in your own knowledge base rather than the model’s memory. If you want a pure-agent platform with no flow scaffolding, Landbot is probably not it.
Agent Studio and the managed-service path
Agent Studio is the one product surface that breaks the self-service narrative. It is a paid service where Landbot’s team designs, builds, launches, and maintains the bot for you; you take a “copilot seat” while their experts maximize ROI.
The service is bundled into the Business tier and available as an add-on for any plan, which makes it the natural on-ramp for organizations that want a WhatsApp-grade AI agent without building one in-house.
The framing on the pricing page is honest about the trade-off: Agent Studio costs more than a self-serve plan but spares you the build/operate cycle. For a marketing team without a dedicated conversation designer, the math on a 60-day pilot is often easier than recruiting or contracting that skill.
We did not price Agent Studio — the FAQ does not publish a per-engagement rate, and the contact-sales path is gated. The Business tier price is custom, and we could not break out how much of it is platform vs service.
Integrations and the human handoff story
The integration story is consistent across the tier list: basic email/marketing tools at Starter, premium CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, Sheets) plus webhooks and API at Professional and above.
What that means in practice is that a Starter deployment can sync leads to Mailchimp or Segment but cannot push them into HubSpot or trigger a Salesforce flow — that is the gate at $88/month.
Human takeover is in from Starter upward, with a shared inbox that consumes a seat. Each additional seat is $25/month, regardless of plan. For a team running a single bot with one operator, the Starter tier is enough; once a second person needs to monitor live conversations or rotate on-call, the seat economics start to matter.
Webhooks and API access are Professional-tier, which is the typical cut-off point for engineering teams that want to push conversation events into a downstream pipeline. The pricing page does not publish rate limits for the API, so for high-throughput event ingestion, the safer path is the Business tier with a conversation about limits before deployment.
We did not test webhook rate limits or API quotas on any plan. The pricing page does not document them; if your use case depends on a specific events-per-second figure, that conversation belongs in a sales call before you commit.
The pricing page leads with three rules, presented as a guarantee: published AI-chat overage price, published chat overage price, and your data stays yours. The first two are verifiable on the page ($0.05 and $0.10).

The third — “we don’t use your chats to train models” — is consistent with the GDPR/SOC 2 framing and the European-base posture, but the published DPA is “available on request” rather than self-serve. That is standard phrasing in this category, but it is not the same as a public DPA.
Landbot’s social proof numbers are also worth noting: 1B+ chats served, 12,000+ teams, 190+ countries, 10+ years in market, 4.7 average rating across 680+ verified reviews (landbot.io/pricing). The case-study figures (+35% conversion for Lead Laundry, -70% manual messages for CASFID, -30% cost per lead for Emma) are vendor-published.
We did not independently verify the conversion/lift figures in the testimonials. The review volume (4.7 across 680+ reviews) is high enough that the average rating claim is plausible; the specific case-study numbers are not.
Who Landbot is for — and who should pass
Three profiles fit Landbot cleanly:
- SMB marketing teams running lead-gen chatbots on a landing page with simple qualification flows. Free and Starter cover this without any overage exposure.
- Mid-market companies that need WhatsApp at scale and can absorb Professional WA ($176/month plus Meta’s message rates). This is the segment Landbot is built for.
- Enterprises that want a managed build/operate team. Business plus Agent Studio is the path here.
Three profiles should pass:
- Pure email marketers. Landbot is a chat product; it does not pretend to be an email automation platform.
- Teams that want pure AI agents with no flow scaffolding. Botpress, Relevance AI, or a custom LLM pipeline will likely fit better.
- High-volume WhatsApp senders running marketing blasts. Once you exceed the 10,000-message allowance and rely on templates, Meta’s per-message rates take over and the bill stops being predictable.
Where Landbot sits against the alternatives
The pricing page does not run a Manychat or Tidio comparison — that would be unusual. What it does publish is positioning aimed squarely at the surprise-bill problem. We did not benchmark Landbot against Manychat’s Pro tier or Tidio’s bundle; the “predictable” line is a positioning statement, not a benchmark result.
The category generally splits three ways on price transparency. Manychat publishes a Pro tier with a fixed monthly price, but its Meta-bundled WhatsApp costs follow Meta’s rules and can vary month to month.
Tidio combines email, live chat, and bots in one bundle; its sticker price is easy to read but the line between “chat volume” and “AI usage” is less explicit. Landbot publishes both numbers and the overage rates in plain text, which is the part that makes its rate sheet distinctive.
If you want a chatbot you can deploy today with a clear monthly line item, Landbot is one of the rare SaaS in this space where the “starting from $X” number is also the upper bound for a normal month.
Once WhatsApp and Meta’s variable pricing enter the picture, that changes — and the change is visible, not hidden, in the rate sheet.

FAQ
Is Landbot really free to try, or is the trial a credit-card capture?
The 14-day trial does not require a credit card. After the trial, the account drops to Free with no charge. Data is not deleted (landbot.io/pricing).
What’s the difference between a Landbot chat and an AI chat?
A Landbot chat follows a visual rule-based flow with predefined decision points. An AI chat is handled by an AI agent that interprets intent and replies in natural language. They are billed separately at $0.05 and $0.10 respectively, after the included allowance is used.
How much does WhatsApp really cost on Landbot?
Professional WA is $176/month and includes one WhatsApp number plus 10,000 messages. Beyond that you pay Meta’s rates: €0.003 per service message, €0.05 per marketing/utility/authentication message. An extra WhatsApp number adds $100/month.
Can I bring my own knowledge base?
Yes. The platform grounds AI answers in your own knowledge base rather than the model’s memory, and you can mix button flows for critical paths with AI only where it adds value. The exact LLM is not publicly named on the pricing page.
Is Landbot GDPR-compliant?
Landbot states it is a European platform with GDPR and SOC 2 compliance. A DPA is available on request (landbot.io/pricing FAQ). We did not verify the SOC 2 report ourselves.
Do I need a credit card to start the trial?
No. The 14-day trial is card-free and ends on the Free plan without a charge. No data is deleted on downgrade.
Can I downgrade or cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans are month-to-month with no retention calls. Annual plans are a 12-month commitment because of the 20% discount, but you can cancel the renewal at the end of the term.
Does Landbot train models on my chats?
No. Landbot states explicitly that chats are not used to train models and not sold to third parties. The platform is European-based with GDPR, SOC 2, and an on-request DPA.
What channels can I run Landbot on?
Web, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and API chat (Professional and above). Web is the default and cheapest; WhatsApp carries Meta’s per-message pricing on top of the Professional WA base.
How we put this together: plan prices on annual and monthly billing, the included chat and AI-chat allowances, the seat counts, the $0.05 chat and $0.10 AI-chat overage, the $25/month seat and the $100/month WhatsApp number come from landbot.io/pricing, quoted as displayed. We have not run a paid Landbot account.
